September 2008: Hartenberg Merlot Rated Best Merlot in the World at IWSC
The International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), held in London each year, is regarded as the world wine industry's premier judging event. And at the awards ceremony held on 30 September,
Hartenberg's Merlot 2005 won the trophy for the world's best Merlot.


Sept 2008: Boland Merlot 2008 receives the General Smuts Trophy for the overall best wine at the SA Young Wine Show


September 2006: Meerlust Merlot 2001 - Winner of Merlot Category in the Tri Nations Wine Competition: At the Tri Nations award winning ceremony in Sydney on the 28th August 2006, Bob Campbell MW, announced that the Meerlust Merlot 2001 was the winner of the Merlot category. Each year, three judges, Michael Fridjhon from South Africa , James Halliday from Australia and Bob Campbell from New Zealand , select the best wines in each category from their own country South Africa, Australia and New Zealand respectively. The judging process is held in Sydney under the auspices of Chairman Robert Joseph.
